Bubbles On Ice Wins US Debut; Monomoy Girl 2nd in G1 Apple Blossom; Brooke Marie, South Bend Win at Keeneland

Private purchase Bubbles On Ice (IRE) made her US debut a winning one yesterday at Aqueduct, taking the Memories of Silver Stakes for new owners Glen Hill Farm, Madaket Stables and Cheyenne Stables.

When last seen, Bubbles On Ice was racing in Ireland, finishing 4th in a loaded version of the G1 Moyglare Stud Stakes at the Curragh in September.

 

At Oaklawn Park on Saturday, Monomoy Girl took part in what many were calling the “Race of the Year” in the G1 Apple Blossom where she was facing off against fellow Champion Swiss Skydiver. The $9.5 million mare ran her race, earning a 102 Beyer Speed Figure in falling just a nose short to Letruska in a stretch run for the ages.

At Keeneland on Saturday, Jim Bakke and Gerald Isbister’s Brooke Marie recorded a strong allowance score in her second start off the bench. After winning the 5 1/2 furlong event by a widening 1 1/2 lengths, Brooke Marie looks too feature in the Keeneland April Horses of Racing Age Sale where she is catalogued as Hip 48.

In the following race, South Bend made his seasonal debut a winning win, taking a stakes quality allowance for owners Gary Barber, Wachtel Stable, Peter Deustch and Pantofel Stables.
