Public Auction Buys Score Hat Trick for Crow; 7-figure Pinhook Grad Strong On Return

Over the course of 48 hours, 3 public auction purchases by Liz Crow scored a trio of wins all for trainer Brad Cox. Two-year-old POLE SETTER (Take Charge Indy), a graduate from the 2018 OBS April sale for $220,000, scored on debut to win going away by 2 1/2 for Steve Landers Racing LLC.

SHAKES CREEK, a three-year-old son of The Factor, wired the field and found the winners circle on second asking for owners Rupp Racing. Liz Crow also purchased the colt from the 2017 draft at OBS April for $165,000.

To round out the trio, LEOFRIC (Candy Ride), picked up his first Graded Stakes Victory in the G3 West Virginia President’s Cup also for owner Steve Landers Racing LLC. Crow purchased the five-year-old from the 2016 Keeneland November Breeding Stock sale. Since purchase, Leofric has added 6 wins to his resume and is 100% ITM in 8 starts.

Over on the west coast, TATTERS TO RICHES, the million dollar pinhook graduate from the ’17 Crow/Sharp venture, returned to Del Mar after an 11 month layoff. Trainer Jeff Mullins had the colt by Union Rags tuned up and ready to fire a big effort battling down on the rail to dig deep in the stretch to win by a half length on the wire earning an impressive 94 Beyer.
