Aunt Pearl Sends Euro Venture to Breeders’ Cup

Aunt Pearl (IRE) stretched her record to two wins from two starts on Wednesday at Keeneland with an outstanding performance in the G2 Jessamine.

Sent off as the 3-2 favorite for owners Michael Dubb, Madaket Stables, Michael Kisber, Peter Deutsch and The Elkstone Group, Aunt Pearl shot right to the front just as she did in her debut to establish the early tempo. That tempo ended up being very quick, as she got the first 1/4 mile in 22 1/5 seconds before notching the half in 46 3/5 seconds. Normally, horses going this quickly would fade tamely in the stretch, but Aunt Pearl kicked on, winning by an easy 2 1/2 lengths in a time of 1:40 4/5, breaking the stakes record with ease.

The G2 Jessamine was a “Win and You’re In” race for the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf and Aunt Pearl now heads there as one of the favorites for the race.
