Super Saturday: Busy Weekend Ahead for Clients

On what was supposed be Belmont Stakes day, our clients are still loaded with stakes entries from coast to coast on the back of Secret Message’s G3 Mint Julep success last weekend.

The weekend kicks off on Friday where public auction purchase G2 Prioress winner Royal Charlotte returns to the races for the first time in 2020 when she lines up in the Harmony Lodge at Belmont Park for owner First Row Partners. Clients are also represented by last out stakes winner Piedi Bianchi who was privately purchased in the summer of 2018 on behalf of Madaket Stables, joining original owners Jay Oringer and Jack Bick.

Headlining the Saturday group is Authentic who puts his unbeaten record on the line for Madaket Stables, Starlight Racing and new partner Spendthrift Farm in the G1 Santa Anita Derby. The unbeaten son of super sire Into Mischief is three for three and yet to be seriously challenged in his young career, but will have to beat San Felipe runner up Honor A. P. again if he is to maintain his unbeaten status.

Earlier in the card, the newest private acquisition, Speech, will take her chance in the G2 Santa Anita Oaks for Madaket Stables, who joins original owner Eclipse Thoroughbred Partners on this talented filly. The three year old daughter of Mr Speaker was last seen earning a 97 Beyer Speed Figure when 2nd in an allowance at Oaklawn Park.

Across the country at Belmont Park, Mind Control will be looking for his third G1 victory for Madaket Stables in the Carter Handicap against ten other older sprinters. The four year old son of Stay Thirsty will be looking for his fourth straight victory.

In the G2 Fort Marcy, Stuart Grant’s The Elkstone Group will be represented by the graded stakes winning Social Paranoia who enters this race off a fast finishing 3rd in the Sunshine Forever at Gulfstream last time out. In his four year old debut, he went last to first to win the G3 Appleton at that same venue. Also representing BSW/Crow clients will be Tribhuvan who makes his second North American start after a good 3rd place finish in an allowance at Gulfstream in March.

In South Florida, private purchase Bellera will make her turf debut in the Ginger Punch for owners Mathis Stable, Doheny Racing Stables and Madaket Stables. But for one race where she lost the jockey at the start, the Grade 3 winning daughter of Bernardini has never missed the board.

Last Judgment will also be making his turf debut at Gulfstream for owners Mathis Stable and Madaket Stables. The four year old son on Congrats ran 3rd last out in the Sir Shackleton over the Gulfstream dirt.
