Lucky 12: BSW Runners Breeders’ Cup Bound

With the post positions and morning lines now finalized for the 2019 Breeders’ Cup, BSW clients hold several strong chances for glory this weekend at Santa Anita, with a total of 12 horses entered for this weekend’s showcase. 

BSW affiliated runners hold a strong hand in the Distaff, lead by division leader MIDNIGHT BISOU, who drew post position #4 for owners Bloom Racing, Madaket Stables and Allen Racing, and was installed as the 6-5 favorite. Three stalls to her outside will be SECRET SPICE a 2019 BSW private acquisition on behalf of Bobby Flay joining original owners Little Red Feather Racing. She is a 10-1 morning line. 

In the Breeders’ Cup Classic, YOSHIDA drew post position #5 and has been installed at 8-1. The Japanese-bred has been doing well since his close 3rd place finish in the G1 Woodward and and will look to build on his close 4th place finish in last year’s race for owners WinStar Farm, China Horse Club and Head of Plains Partners. 

In the Turf, BSW private purchase CHANNEL MAKER was saddled with the 12 hole in a field of 12 for owners Adam Wachtel, Gary Barber, R. A. Hill and Reeves Thoroghbred Racing. The Grade 1 winning son of the Breeders’ Cup Turf winning English Channel has been installed at 10-1. 

COAL FRONT, this year’s G2 Godolphin Mile winner, drew post position #7 in a field of 10 for the Dirt Mile. The BSW private purchase runs for owners Robert LaPenta and Head of Plains Partners. He is 6-1.

Two BSW private purchases line up in the Sprint, leading off with the Grade 1 winning WHITMORE for Southern Springs Stables, Robert LaPenta and Head of Plains Partners. The son of Breeders’ Cup Classing winning Pleasantly Perfect drew post position #7 and has been installed at 15-1. 

SHEKKY SHEBAZ, privately purchased out of a win against $25,000 claimers at Saratoga, earned his way into this field with a stakes win next out and a subsequent 2nd place finish in a stake at Belmont Park. He drew post position #4 and as 12-1 for owners Michael Dubb, Madaket Stables and Bethlehem Stables. 

Star mare UNI lines up against the boys for the second time this year in the Mile. The last out winner of the G1 First Lady drew post position #11 and is the 7-2 co-second choice for owners Michael Dubb, Head of Plains Partners, Haras d’Etreham and Bethlehem Stables. Also contesting the mile is BOWIES HERO, the last out winner of the G1 Shadwell Mile at Keeneland for Agave Racing, Madaket Stables, ERJ Racing and Rockin Robin Racing Stable. Unfortunately he drew widest of all in post position #14 and was given a 12-1 chance. 

On Friday, BSW clients will be well represented with a few strong chances to get the weekend off to a good start. 

 

Grade 1 winner EIGHT RINGS, the last out winner of the American Pharoah over this track and distance will add to look to his resume in the Juvenile. The son of Empire Maker drew post position #6 for owners SF Racing, Starlight Racing, Madaket Stables, Fred Hertrich, John Fielding and Golconda Stables, and has been installed as the 2-1 second choice. 

BSW public auction purchase BRITISH IDIOM goes in the Juvenile Fillies for owners Michael Dubb, The Elkstone Group, Madaket Stables and Bethlehem Stables. A dominating last out winner of the G1 Darley Alcibiades at Keeneland, the $40,000 yearling purchase drew post position #4 and has been made the 4-1 fourth choice. 

The group of BSW connected runners is rounded out by public auction purchase ANDESITE, a last out 2nd place finisher of the G3 Pilgrim at Belmont for owners Kent Spellman and Madaket Stables. The $90,000 two-year-old in training purchase drew post position #7 and has been installed at 12-1.
