BSW Runners Hit for a Royal Double at Saratoga

BSW runners took down two of the final three races at Saratoga on Thursday, marking a “Royal” double.

In the eighth race, Empressof the Nile, a BSW public auction purchase for Madaket Stables, Manganaro Bloodstock and Rob Masiello, flew late to capture her first win for the partnership. The five year old daughter of the late Pioneerof the Nile had to sit and wait behind a run-off pace before swinging seven wide when turning for home before unleashing her big kick. Having taken down a second level allowance, the Graham Motion trainee will likely go back in search of an elusive stakes win next time out.

In the tenth and final race of the day, Saltking, a BSW private purchase on behalf of Madaket Stables, joining original owners Commonwealth Stable and Randy Bradshaw, took down the state-bred maiden special weight race off a six month layoff for trainer Mark Hennig. Breaking well and sitting towards the rear of the field, he too unleashed a big late kick to get up in the final 1/16 of a mile over the firm Saratoga turf course.
With Saltking’s state-bred status, it opens up an array of potential races going forward for this new partnership.
